Synagogues played an important role in the life of my mother, Elisabeth Joseph. I’d like to share a few memories, a few reasons for leaving a legacy gift.

Friedenstempel was her synagogue in Berlin. It no longer exists, but the Hebrew lessons learned, and the pride in being Jewish remained. Needing to have a Jewish connection after coming to America in 1948, my parents joined Brothers of Israel in Trenton so that I could have a Jewish education. At the Bat Mitzvah of her granddaughter Amy at The Jewish Center, mom recited the blessing before Amy read from the Torah. It was mom’s first Aliyah.

For many years The Jewish Center set up a table with six candles to commemorate Yom Hashoah. My mother proudly lit one candle in memory of her parents and her brother.

The Jewish Center holds the Jewish community in Princeton together. It is a place of prayer, learning and celebration. It must be there for future generations.
