Many understand the Jewish concept of “Tikkun Olam,” but few embody it in the way that Gil did. To repair the world, Gil took on tasks of all sizes. He would happily complete small jobs such as changing light bulbs for homebound seniors, and would also think about widespread community needs, such as creating the Princeton Period Project. Each day, Gil found a way to repair the world, with his time, his advocacy, or with his money.

In making a legacy contribution to the local Jewish community, he ensured that his devotion to repairing the world would continue beyond his life, hopefully inspiring others to do the same. When he died, his family received condolences from people and organizations that they didn’t recognize – but that all had felt the impact of Gil’s generosity and influence.

It was his mission to quietly but consistently help others, without a need for recognition, but with the knowledge that he lived the mission of Tikkun Olam. Gil did this every day, with sincerity, and through diverse avenues, and with the legacy donation, he continues to do so even after his death.
