Irving Newman
Irving Newman was a member of The Jewish Center of Princeton at two major periods during his life. As a young man raising his daughter, Deborah, and son, Steven, with his wife Iris Newman, he took part in TJC activities and services in the 1970s. Both their children had their Bat and Bar Mitzvah ceremonies at TJC. Later, after changing jobs and locations, Irv returned to Princeton in 2004, when he married Myra Weiner, a TJC congregant. Together they were regulars at the Shabbat services, the Bible BaBoker weekly Parsha discussions, classes and numerous social events. Irving wanted to show his appreciation to TJC for the many years that he enjoyed being a congregant. He gained a true sense of community and Jewish observances at TJC for which he was most grateful.
During his life, Irv was a patent attorney who worked in the pharmaceutical industry. He was successful in his career but always helped others with their problems at work. Irv was the quintessential mensch! He loved to help people of all ages, enjoyed telling many jokes and one-liners for which he was famous and well-remembered with smiles. Irv would rather help someone than do almost anything else. He loved his family, his synagogue and life!
