Fay & Herbert Abelson
Honoring Fay and Herb Abelson: A Legacy of Community Activism and Dedication
Fay and Herb Abelson epitomized the true spirit of activism. Their unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of the Princeton community spanned over six decades. Throughout their 60+ years as Princeton residents, they dedicated their time and influence to numerous causes, including:
– Educating children with learning disabilities
– Volunteering at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen
– Serving on the board of the McCarter Theater
– Training and working as an EMT with the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad
– Fundraising for the Princeton Public Library
Deeply rooted in the Jewish community, the Abelsons actively participated in their faith. Whether attending services at the Jewish Center, guiding their children through bar and bat mitzvahs, retreating with their Havurah group, or supporting Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Mercer County, their devotion to Judaism was profound and unwavering.
In alignment with their lifelong dedication to community betterment, Fay and Herb Abelson generously bequeathed a substantial portion of their estate to both Jewish and non-sectarian organizations serving Princeton and its surrounding areas.
